Going towards Hinjvadi on Saturday and Sunday evenings for dinner has a few advantages like low traffic, lesser crowd with respect to eastern Pune restaurants and potential/likely discounts.
We went to Marrakesh Hinjvadi (operated by M/s Minerva Hospitalities) for dinner last night. The place is combination of The Northern Frontier and Marrakesh serving Moroccan, Lebanese, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Kashmiri etc cuisines.
Closely spaced seating in a well illuminated hall with fast instrumental score in background can be called decent ambiance.
Cream of mushroom soup: Rs 95, creamy with stringy cheese, tasted nice.
Needed to decide between Tandoori Murg (Indian style red base) Vs Tandoori Murg Irani (close to Tandoori Murg Afghani in yellow base) and went for Tandoori Murg with special request of making it less spicy. Rs 350, tender, tasty served with onion rings covered with sweet curd and green spicy dip (mint-chilly-coriander).
Garlic humus with pita bread: Rs 165, served with black olive topping. Mildly sweet-sour pickled cauliflower and carrot pieces on the sides. Humus was OK and not great. Asked for brown bread if possible and regretted politely.
Peshawari Chole: Rs 185, In yellow base thick gravy, looked bit different, mildly spicy and tender, tasted excellent.
Assorted Roti Basket: Rs 185, Eight full breads including Butter Nan, Plain Nan, Plain Roti, Lachcha Paratha, Kulcha, Garlic Nan, Rumali Roti (on request). Kulcha with nigella seeds were great, Rumalis were and warm, Lachcha Parathas were of wheat flour and were very tender. It is huge size basket compared to other places, beware, and don抰 order unless a group can finish it in 5 minutes else it will become hard to chew stuff.
Phirni: Rs 90, Mashed rice cooked in milk with sugar till thickened flavored with Kewda fragrance. Best preparation of the place.
Gajar Ka Halwa: Rs 90, Grated carrots, cooed in fat and sugar topped with coconut cream, tasted odd.
Rasmalai: Rs 90, Commercial preparation with small (called Anguri). Tasted OK.
A few pints of KFM.
Total Rs 1570 (tax inclusive… great), discount on food Rs 125.
Plus… Taste, cost
Minus…less attention on table, confusion of waiters (nearly got mutton shorba) and house fly showing interest in food
Finally… Good, tasty food with decent cost
