We wanted to have our yearly get together of 70 people with budget constraints (as usual). After enquiring at 5 decent restaurants with party hall/s in west side of Pune located in Hinjvadi, Balewadi, Baner Road, University Road etc with quotes ranging from sub 500 to super 700 for same menu; we finalized Sadanand Resort. It was the lowest among all and let me tell you it was not disappointing. There were three party halls to choose from. One on the first floor is bit smaller and enough for small gathering. One of the second-floor is without AC; bigger and good enough for 80-100 people. One on third-floor is identical to the one on second-floor but has AC. We opted for the third-floor hall.
Full menu was picked up from 10-20 choices in each category, with welcome drink, soup, two veg starters, two non-veg starters, two veg curries, two non-veg curries, Dal tadka, assorted breads, rice, RAYTA, salad, pickle, PAPAD and dessert (vanilla ice-cream with hot chocolate).
PA system was not available at hotel and we requested for a console with two microphones, music system and speakers. It was managed by hotel for Rs 2000.
Veg Manchow Soup- it was not very think, not very spicy and consistent, fried noodles were dry and crisp, tasted nice.
Veg Harabhara Kabab- Crisp, lesser on green, tasted nice
Veg Manchurian- Bit soggy and verge of breaking, tasted average
Chicken Pahadi Kabab- Dry and tasty with green marinate, tasted OK
Chicken Manchurian- Soft, bit wet and tasted OK
Veg Kadhai- In yellow-orange base, tasted nice
Panir Tikka Masala- Orange-red gravy, not very spicy, soft panir chunks, tasted nice.
Murg Handi- Wet red-brown gravy, tender but not spicy, tasted OK
Mutton Kolhapuri- In red gravy, it was best of the lot, not very hot but spicy, tender mutton pieces.
Jeera Rice- Not very greasy with lots and lots of cumin seeds cracked to perfection.
Yellow Dal Tadka- One of the best dal preparations in Pune (I would say)
Salad- Freshly chopped and not dry
Vanilla Ice-Cream with Hot Chocolate- quality of Ice-Cream was below par
The buffet tables were closely packed with veg and non-veg dishes closely kept near each other and a few guests did not like it. Food décor was also below par but taste was good. Bottled drinking water, prompt service, sufficient chairs and dining tables, clean toilets and elevators are available. Crockery would have been better.
Overall, it was good dining experience with the team in budget.
